Phillies might be turing their attention to Cliff Lee
With the trade deadline looming, and a Halladay deal that seems more unpromising as the days go on, the Phillies might be turning their attention to Cleveland Indians pitcher Cliff Lee. It still seems that if the Phillies were to make a trade, then it would still be for Halladay, but with the amount the Jays want, the Phils might try for Lee. The rumor is, that with the players they are offering for Hallladay, the Phillies feel as though they could land Lee. The lefty Lee was the AL Cy Young winner last year with a record of 22-3.
The trade with Halladay seems like it is at a standstill, because the two teams disagree on the value of Halladay and the Phillies prospects. Sorry Toronto, but Halladay has to go. The team can't afford to tie up that much money in the pitcher, because they will never go post season in that division with Halladay signed to a huge deal, and Halladay will finish his career in Toronto without a post-season. So they know he has to go, and they need inexpensive youth at the mount that can win, and the Phillies are offering to give that to them. So the saga continues, and lets see if we can land Halladay or Lee.
